What is Cross Ice?
The Flyers Skate Zone models its Cross Ice program after USA Hockey’s American Development Model (ADM). This program is targeted for children 4 to 8 years old. The Cross-Ice program is built on the concept of “small ice for small legs”; 85 feet across the ice for a 4-8 year old is the same as 200 feet full ice is for an adult. The reduced surface size for this age group allows for more player involvement, puck handling, and scoring opportunities for all players.
The Flyers Skate Zone is dedicated to the development of youth hockey. Our Cross Ice Hockey program is designed for hockey players ages 6 & younger. The program provides participants the opportunity to develop individual and team hockey skills in a fun, relaxed environment.. The goal of this “league” is fun and participation. All participants greatly improve their hockey skills in this instructional program.
