CHECKING FOR CHARITY TO HOST 11TH ANNUNAL ICE HOCKEY TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND
Voorhees, NJ (August 9, 2019)- Checking For Charity (CFC) will kick off the 2019-2020 hockey season with their annual charity ice hockey tournament held at Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone at Voorhees and Virtua Health Flyers Skate Zone at Pennsauken NJ, with games also scheduled in Mount Laurel, NJ this coming weekend.
Over the last 11 years, CFC has raised over $460,000 for more than 100 different local and national Non-Profit organizations, while continuing to grow in attendance and popularity. This year’s tournament will feature 42 teams over 6 divisions ranging from professional to “50 and over”. There are currently 17 active NHL players rostered including local products Johnny Gaudreau, Anthony D’Angelo, TJ Brennan and Anthony Stolarz as well as many other professional and Division 1 college players. Several former professional players including Flyer great Danny Briere are also participating in this year’s tournament in the various divisions.
TJ Brennan, who has been involved with CFC from the beginning as a teenager, has seen it grow into something much more than a local tourney. “It’s so magnified because you know the teams are going to be in it and people care.” He continues,” I’ve got to make sure we’re focused, and we’ve got the right players. It just speaks to how much it’s grown and how highly everyone thinks of it”.
