Flyers Skate Zone Thrilled to Host Free Girls Hockey Clinic
Girls all over the world gathered together in ice rinks on October 6th & 7th to celebrate the International Ice Hockey Federation’s World Girls’ Hockey Weekend.
In celebration of the day, The Philadelphia Flyers hosted their own “Free Girls Hockey Clinic” at the Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone at Voorhees, New Jersey. The AAHA (Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association), Flyers Skate Zone and Philadelphia Flyers partnered to execute a successful FREE event for girls aged 8 to 19, with over 200 girls and parents attending and participating.
“This event is another terrific example of our ongoing commitment to support the growth of girl’s hockey,” said Pat Ferrill, Senior Vice President of Flyers Skate Zone, “while highlighting our ongoing partnership with the AAHA to do all we can to increase interest in the sport.”
The event not only featured on-ice ADM clinics, but also featured panel discussions where the girls and their families could learn more about the development of girls’ hockey, college recruiting, and career opportunities for female ice hockey players with a true passion for the game. The panel included collegiate coaches and others with experience in the world of girls hockey.
For all ladies in attendance, they had the opportunity to show their skills on the ice and off the ice, as well as take away memories from the day with photo opportunities and a love for ice hockey.
Girls interested in starting in hockey or interested in hockey lessons can register for the Lady Flyers program, which starts November 10 at Flyers Skate Zone in Northeast Philadelphia and Voorhees. More information about the program can be found here.
